I have been cultivating crops such as soybean and cauliflower in the Kharif season and onion and wheat in the Rabi season on my 3-acre land. This year, I planted zucchini. The representatives of Sanjivani Sanstha guided me throughout the entire process, from land preparation, planting, pest and disease control, to harvesting.
I planted zucchini on 0.25 acres with 1,200 plants spaced at 2×2 feet. The first harvest was done after 32 days, and I continued harvesting up to 32 times, yielding a total of 4,758 kg. From this, I earned a net profit of ₹1,26,530. Compared to other crops, zucchini provided higher production in a smaller area.
Under the guidance of Sanjivani Sanstha, through the village committee and the Lakhpati Kisan program, I established a plant nursery. Through this nursery, I provide high-quality saplings at a lower cost to farmers. So far, I have supplied a total of 6,000 zucchini saplings to five farmers.
Based on my experience, I am encouraging other farmers to cultivate zucchini. In the future, I aim to have more farmers adopt this crop. I also plan to create a WhatsApp group to facilitate large-scale production and collective selling at better prices. The institution continues to provide me with timely guidance, and I am deeply grateful to them.
