Introduction
In the Garwadi village Sanjeevani institute for empowerment and development (SIED) has implementing developmental work with the finance of HSBC since 2015 the project has been started under the title of “Regeneration of natural resources through participatory integrated watershed management in Akole and Sangamner block” under this project SIED has been implemented different developmental activities in the village. From last two years for the overall holistic development HSBC work in 13 villages of Akole block. To make available and strengthen sustainable livelihood opportunities in the project area SIED has implemented some livelihood interventions to enhance the income level of poor and unemployed individuals from the villages.
Pre- Intervention Scenario
Mr. Yuvraj Namdev Wayal from Garwadi village is a farmer having only 5 acre of land from that 1.5 acre land is waste land and only 3.5 acre of land is cultivable land, he and his whole family is dependent on the farming only he is cultivating different crops like Rice, Groundnut, Soybean and vegetables but because of adverse climatic condition and low market rates for the agricultural produce he got very low agricultural production and income which is not enough to meet his family needs hence his family members are doing work on daily wages in different farms to earn additional income. In last two years because of the adverse climatic condition crop failure and low agricultural income is observed in the village same has happened with him, he is facing financial issues which is responsible for enhances tress level of his family members. To deal with this condition in off season he was migrated to the district place for work and work on construction sites on daily wages to survive his family.
Selection of beneficiary
Under project developmental activities, livelihood opportunities are developed in the village on individual basis through village development committee (VDC). VDC organized village meeting and individuals are selected from meeting for livelihood intervention and developed livelihood intervention as per individuals need. As such Mr. Yuvraj Namdev Wayal is selected for welding machine work.
Post intervention review of Beneficiary
In our village HSBC and SIED doing developmental work from 2015, under this project sustainable livelihood opportunities they developed in the village. I am selected for the electic motar welding work, Now with the help of this work I got daily income by making window greels, small poultry shed and other welding work. In last year I got additional income of Rs 25000/- with this work. Now I don’t have need to migrate in off season for work with the help of this welding work i got work in my local village. Side by side I started back yard poultry and dairy work to earn additional income. Income from farming and this supportive smallscale business is far better than the my old income, now after fulfill my family needs saving also done which will planed to use for strenthen my smallsacle welding work.
Impact
Mr. Yuvraj Namdev Wayal got sustainable income source within village which improves his income from that he developed other two small scale businesses of backyard poultry and dairy. Farming income and income from small-scale business is far better than his old income which improves standard of living of his family and villagers got facility of welding work within the village.
