Introduction

In the Keli-Kotur village Sanjeevani institute for empowerment and development (SIED) has implementing developmental work with the finance of HSBC since 2015 the project has been started under the title of “Regeneration of natural resources through participatory integrated watershed management in Akole and Sangamner block” under this project SIED has been implemented different developmental activities in the village from last two years for the overall holistic development of 13 villages. To make available and strengthen sustainable livelihood opportunities in the project area SIED has implemented some livelihood interventions to enhance the income level of poor and unemployed individuals from the villages.


Pre- Intervention Scenario

Mr. Yogesh Bhaskar Vaisal from Keli-Kotur village is a farmer having only 7 acre of land from that 4.5 acre land is waste land and only 2.5 acre of land is cultivable land which is not enough to generate that much of income to meet his family needs hence before some years to support the farming he started his small shop of Kirana which support him financially but the problem of low income is remain same. From his low income he unable to meet his family needs and continuously faces the financial issues. In his family there are five members he, his wife, his parents and his son all are engaged in the farming .To sort out the problem of low income he wanted expand his small scale business but because of its economic limitations he unable to develop its business.


Selection of livelihood intervention & its beneficiary


In the 13 villages from Sangamner and Akole block SIED implementing village development activities with the finance of HSBC from 2015 in the village different development work has been carried out like critical area treatment work, women’s empowerment, soil and water conservation and sustainable livelihood development to enhance standard of living of village community.
In the village different livelihood interventions have been carried out “Puncher repairing shop” is also one of it. Dattaprasad gram vikas samiti selected Mr. Yogesh Bhaskar Vaisal for livelihood intervention of puncher repairing shop in the monthly meeting of village development committee.


Post intervention review of Beneficiary

My name is Yogesh Bhaskar Vaisal from Keli-Kotur village. I am a farmer and to support my family I am running small shop of kirana total income from farming and kirana shop is not enogh to meet my family needs hence I am facing different economic issues but with the support and finanace of HSBC, I have started another small scale bussiness of Puncher repairing shop which helps to earn additional income for me and my family. My puncher repairing shop running exellently and with the combine income of Kirana & Puncher repair shop my income is get dobuled. From my village Yesagaon, Ghodewadi road is crossed and there is unavailability of puncher repairing shop on road till 10 km from my village hence different vehicles like cycles, motarcycles, cars etc are come regularly for repairing in the puncher repairing shop till end of the day did good bussines and get better income. By the impact of this Puncher repairng shop number of my customers is increase and combine income of Kirana and Puncher repairing shop is far better than my old income now, after fullfilling my daily needs some savings also done by me which I will use for expand my small scale shops of Kirana and Puncher repairing.
