About us

Sanjeevani Institute for Empowerment and Development (SIED) is a non-profit organisation established in 2007 to facilitate the sustainable development of the communities which are poor and disadvantaged. Since inception, SIED has been following a participatory approach and engagement with relevant stakeholders for the integrated development of the rural communities residing in the hilly and remote areas. SIED continue to work on various thematic areas including Community and Women Empowerment, Natural Resources Management, Climate resilient agriculture, Organic farming practices, Livelihoods for needy, Promotion of renewable energy use, strengthening the infrastructure for primary education, community health awareness, Climate Change Adaptation, Irrigation water budgeting and management, digital awareness, education and financial literacy, skill development of youth, networking, etc. The key intervention amongst all is making water available for the neediest communities by a participatory self-help approach in rural areas of Maharashtra.

SIED has been working with rural communities in Maharashtra for 17 years now. As of March, 2023, SIED has touched 5.04 lacs lives and 99,488 families in 417 villages across 12 districts of Maharashtra. SIED is actively contributing to the SDGs like- SDG.01. No Poverty, SDG.02. Zero Hunger, SDG.03. Good Health and well-being, SDG.04. Quality Education, SDG.05. Gender Equality, SDG.06. Clean water and sanitation, SDG.13. Climate action. We are actively contributing to ‘Transforming our world: the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development’ which comprehensively cover social, economic and environmental dimensions of development and focus on ending poverty in all its forms and dimensions.
