LIFT IRRIGATION SYSTEM CASE STUDY WAKI

In Association with:

BACKGROUND

Waki village is situated in between hilly terrain. Most of farmers having their undulating land and farmers are able to cultivate land at lowland area. For upland area there is no assured source of irrigation hence they cultivate this area for Kharif season only & most of the land remains fallow in Rabbi season. Families are taking crop during Kharif and then migrates towards Nashik & Surat in search of wages.
Same case was happening to all above 4 farmers in Waki village. They have field adjacent to each other but that is at two different place. Total 4 farmers have 6.5-acre land from which 2 acres is at lowland and irrigation source is available there. Another 4.5-acre land is at upland and they cannot afford to take irrigation water to that area. They take Kharif crop and 3 families out of 4 members migrates towards Nashik. One member took the land on lease of all remaining 3 members and do rabbi cropping on the land which is nearer to the source well. Remaining Land remain fallow because it was comparatively at high altitude.
