Family Background
I, Sangeeta Yohan Mavchi, live in a family of four, including my husband and two children. We own 2.5 acres of farmland, but due to limited water availability in our well, agricultural yield is low, making it difficult to meet our family’s financial needs.
Occupation/Business Before Availing Benefits
Our livelihood depended on farming and agricultural labor.
Income Before Availing Benefits
We cultivated rice, soybean, groundnut, wheat, and chickpeas. However, due to water scarcity in the rabi season, production was low. Our total annual agricultural income was ₹49,300.
Main Reason for Availing Benefits
• Low agricultural income
• No additional source of income
• Had tailoring skills but lacked capital to start a business
Information Available Before Availing Benefits
With financial assistance from TDF NABARD and guidance from Sanjeevani Institute, we established a wadi (fruit orchard) on one acre of farmland. As part of the Village Planning Committee, I learned about the Women’s Development Initiative and applied for financial support to start a tailoring business. After approval, I contributed ₹5,000, and the project fund provided ₹10,000, making a total of ₹15,000, which was used to purchase a sewing machine, pico machine, table, chair, and other essential materials.
Income from the Initiative
- I work 20 days per month
- Sewing charges per blouse vary between ₹230-₹250, depending on the desig
- I complete two blouses per day
- After deducting expenses, my daily income is ₹400
- My monthly income is ₹12,000
Personal Thoughts
With guidance from Sanjeevani Institute and financial assistance from NABARD, my income has significantly increased. I am grateful for this support, as it has helped improve my family’s financial stability.
