Family Background
I, Kantilal Ramji Desai, have a small family of four members. Since I do not own farmland, I used to earn a living by working as a laborer at another person’s welding workshop in Kudashi.
Occupation/Business Before Availing Benefits
I worked as a laborer at a welding shop in Kudashi and occasionally worked at a flour mill.
Income Before Availing Benefits
I had taken a flour mill on a partnership basis. After deducting expenses, my monthly income was ₹6,000.
Main Reason for Availing Benefits
I had completed a welding course in I.T.I. and had the necessary skills to run a business. However, I lacked capital to start my own venture.
Information Available Before Availing Benefits
Since 2021, the TDF NABARD Wadi Program has been running in the village. Under this program, a Village Planning Committee conducts monthly meetings. During one of these meetings, discussions were held about livelihood opportunities for landless individuals. After receiving information from committee members, I submitted an application to the Village Planning Committee to start a welding workshop.
Once the committee approved my proposal, I contributed ₹30,000, and an additional ₹30,000 was granted from the project fund, making a total of ₹60,000. This amount was used to set up a workshop shed and purchase welding equipment and machinery.
Income from the Initiative
From this business, I earn an average daily profit of ₹2,000 after deducting expenses. This amounts to a monthly income of ₹50,000 to ₹60,000.
Personal Thoughts
Now, I receive good work not only in my village but also in neighboring villages. As a result, my family is satisfied and happy. I am truly grateful to Sanjeevani Institute for their guidance and NABARD for their financial support, which helped me establish my business.
